Selenomethionine Se-75 is a radioactively labeled form of selenomethionine containing selenium-75, used as a scintigraphic imaging agent for pancreatic and parathyroid gland localization, as well as investigational tumor imaging in bladder and other cancers. The gamma-emitting selenium-75 isotope allows detection by nuclear medicine imaging, with preferential uptake in metabolically active tissues including pancreatic acini. Its oncologic applications exploit the enhanced selenium uptake in certain tumor tissues.
