Acamprosate
A medication used to help people who have stopped drinking alcohol remain abstinent by reducing the unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms that can occur during prolonged sobriety. It is thought to restore the brain's chemical balance disrupted by long-term alcohol use, easing feelings of anxiety, restlessness, and discomfort that can trigger relapse. It must be taken consistently three times daily and works best when combined with counseling or a support program.
