Docetaxel
A taxane chemotherapy drug derived from the Pacific yew tree, used to treat breast, lung, prostate, gastric, and head and neck cancers by stabilizing microtubules during cell division, preventing cancer cells from splitting into two. It is given intravenously and commonly causes hair loss, fluid retention, and low blood counts. Patients typically receive a corticosteroid premedication to reduce fluid retention and hypersensitivity reactions.

Binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, translocating to the nucleus to modulate gene transcription. This suppresses multiple inflammatory genes encoding cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules while inducing anti-inflammatory proteins.
