Ipilimumab
This immunotherapy drug is a checkpoint inhibitor that blocks CTLA-4, a protein on immune T-cells that normally acts as a brake on immune activity. By releasing this brake, it allows the immune system to mount a more powerful attack against cancer cells. It is used to treat advanced melanoma, kidney cancer, lung cancer, and other malignancies, often in combination with another checkpoint inhibitor.
