Vandetanib
This targeted therapy blocks multiple receptors (VEGFR, EGFR, and RET) involved in tumor growth and blood vessel formation, and is used to treat symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer that cannot be surgically removed. It is taken as a daily oral tablet. It can cause a serious prolongation of the heart's electrical rhythm (QT prolongation), requiring regular heart monitoring.
