Sodium Sulfate
Sodium sulfate is an inorganic sulfate salt used as an osmotic laxative component in bowel preparation solutions for colonoscopy, working by drawing water into the intestinal lumen to produce watery stools and cleanse the colon. It is poorly absorbed from the GI tract, maintaining its osmotic activity throughout the bowel. In combination with other electrolytes and laxatives, it is a key ingredient in low-volume split-dose bowel preparation products.
