Tozinameran
Tozinameran (BNT162b2, Comirnaty) is an mRNA vaccine encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles that facilitate cellular uptake and endosomal escape, allowing ribosomes to translate the spike protein and trigger humoral and cellular immune responses. It was the first mRNA vaccine authorized for widespread human use, providing highly effective protection against COVID-19 and being extensively used in global vaccination campaigns. The mRNA-lipid nanoparticle platform it established is now being investigated for vaccines against HIV, cancer, and other diseases.
