Trifluridine
Trifluridine (trifluorothymidine, TFT) is a thymidine nucleoside analog that is incorporated into DNA during replication, inhibiting thymidylate synthase and causing DNA strand breaks and dysfunction in both the incorporated cell and adjacent cells through a bystander effect. As part of the trifluridine/tipiracil combination (Lonsurf), it is approved for refractory metastatic colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, and is under investigation for other gastrointestinal and hematologic malignancies. Topically, it is used as an antiviral agent for herpes simplex keratitis.
