Pentagastrin
A synthetic pentapeptide analogue of gastrin used diagnostically to stimulate gastric acid secretion and test the function of parietal cells, helping diagnose conditions such as pernicious anemia and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to stimulate calcitonin secretion as a provocative test for medullary thyroid carcinoma.
