Zolpidem
This sedative-hypnotic medication is widely prescribed for short-term treatment of insomnia, helping people fall asleep more quickly and stay asleep longer. It works by binding to GABA receptors in the brain in a targeted way to produce sedation without the same degree of anxiety relief as benzodiazepines. Complex sleep behaviors including sleepwalking, sleep-driving, and sleep-eating have been reported, and women typically require a lower dose due to slower drug clearance.

Combining alprazolam with zolpidem produces additive CNS depression, profound sedation, psychomotor impairment, and respiratory depression risk.
Diazepam and zolpidem together produce compounded GABA-A-mediated CNS depression, with risk of severe sedation and respiratory compromise.
Zolpidem has been reported to modestly increase warfarin anticoagulation in isolated case reports; routine clinical concern is low.
Gabapentin adds to zolpidem's CNS depressant effects, increasing the risk of excessive sedation, falls, and next-morning psychomotor impairment.
No side effects recorded
