Glucagon
A naturally occurring hormone produced by the pancreas that raises blood glucose levels by stimulating the liver to convert stored glycogen into glucose, used medically to treat severe hypoglycemia when patients cannot take glucose by mouth. It is also used diagnostically in gastrointestinal imaging procedures to temporarily reduce bowel motility. Research is exploring its role in treating conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and asthma.
