Sodium phosphate P-32 is a radiopharmaceutical containing the beta-emitting radionuclide phosphorus-32, used for the palliative treatment of polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and bone metastases from hematologic malignancies. Phosphorus-32 is incorporated into rapidly proliferating cells, where its beta emissions deliver localized cytotoxic radiation to suppress abnormal hematopoiesis and reduce blood cell overproduction. It has a physical half-life of approximately 14.3 days.
