Imciromab Pentetate
Nuclear imaging of myocardial injury was the purpose of imciromab pentetate, a radiolabelled antibody fragment developed to bind cardiac myosin. Myosin becomes accessible only when the sarcolemma of a myocyte has been breached, so binding localises to regions of irreversible damage and marks infarcted territory on a scintigraphic image. The agent therefore served diagnosis rather than therapy, allowing clinicians to visualise which portions of the myocardium had been lost following a suspected infarction. Its specificity derives from the antibody fragment itself, while the pentetate chelator carries the radionuclide. The product is classed as an antibody agent and reached the final phase of clinical development.
