Phensuximide
Phensuximide is an anticonvulsant of the succinimide class that reduces absence seizures by inhibiting T-type calcium channels in thalamic neurons, thereby suppressing the rhythmic thalamocortical discharges responsible for absence seizure activity. It is used as an alternative to ethosuximide in the management of absence (petit mal) epilepsy, though it is considered less effective and more toxic.
