Tyrosine
Tyrosine is a conditionally essential amino acid that serves as a precursor for catecholamine neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine), thyroid hormones, and melanin pigment synthesis. It has been investigated for cognitive enhancement, stress resilience, and treatment of conditions involving catecholamine depletion such as phenylketonuria and early Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. As a substrate for melanin production, it is also relevant in melanoma biology and skin pigmentation disorders.
