Cenobamate
An antiepileptic drug with a dual mechanism, reducing repetitive neuronal firing by blocking sodium channels and enhancing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) activity through modulation of GABAA receptors. It is used as adjunctive therapy for focal-onset seizures in adults. Initiation must be gradual to minimize the risk of a serious multiorgan hypersensitivity reaction called drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS).
