This enzyme replacement therapy is used to treat mucopolysaccharidosis type II (Hunter syndrome), a rare genetic disorder caused by deficiency of the enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase. Without this enzyme, glycosaminoglycans accumulate in cells throughout the body, causing progressive damage to multiple organ systems. Regular intravenous infusions help slow disease progression.
