Sodium Succinate
Sodium succinate is the sodium salt of succinic acid, a Krebs cycle intermediate used as a pharmaceutical excipient, buffering agent, and in parenteral nutrition formulations to provide a metabolizable organic anion. Succinate is an important cellular energy substrate and signaling molecule, and intravenous formulations have been investigated in conditions including asthma and chronic kidney disease for their potential cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also used as a stabilizer in corticosteroid injectable preparations.
