Technetium Pyrophosphate
Technetium pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) is a bone-seeking radiopharmaceutical that has gained renewed clinical importance for the non-invasive diagnosis of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) through myocardial scintigraphy, where it binds to amyloid fibrils in the myocardium. It is also used traditionally for bone scintigraphy and has been used in first-pass cardiac radionuclide ventriculography. Its high sensitivity and specificity for ATTR-CA when combined with serum protein electrophoresis has made it a key diagnostic tool for heart failure workup.
