Zavegepant
Zavegepant is an intranasal calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist (gepant) that blocks CGRP-mediated vasodilation and neurogenic inflammation in trigeminovascular pathways implicated in migraine pathophysiology. It is approved for acute treatment of migraine in adults as an intranasal spray, providing an alternative to oral gepants for patients who prefer non-oral administration or experience nausea. Its intranasal route offers rapid absorption across the nasal mucosa for faster onset.
