A radiotracer consisting of radiolabeled choline used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to detect recurrent prostate cancer. Cancer cells take up choline at increased rates as a substrate for membrane phospholipid synthesis. This allows detection of metastatic disease, particularly when conventional imaging is negative.
