This tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) works by blocking the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, increasing the availability of these neurotransmitters in the brain. It is used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and childhood enuresis (bedwetting). Like all TCAs, it has more side effects than newer antidepressants and can be dangerous in overdose.
