Somatrem
Somatrem is a recombinant human growth hormone preparation that includes an additional methionine residue at the N-terminus compared to native pituitary-derived GH, used to treat growth failure due to growth hormone deficiency in children. Like endogenous GH, it binds to GH receptors to stimulate IGF-1 production, linear bone growth, and protein anabolism. It has largely been replaced by somatropin, which has the identical amino acid sequence to native human GH.
