Trospium is a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic agent that blocks muscarinic M3 receptors in the detrusor muscle of the bladder, reducing involuntary contractions and increasing bladder capacity. It is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.
