Xanomeline Tartrate
Xanomeline tartrate is the tartrate salt form of xanomeline, a selective M1/M4 muscarinic receptor agonist being developed for schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. The tartrate salt form is used in the combination product with trospium chloride (KarXT/Cobenfy), where xanomeline provides central therapeutic muscarinic agonism while trospium blocks peripheral muscarinic receptors to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. This combination approach enables effective central muscarinic activation with an acceptable safety profile.
