Cephalexin Hydrochloride
The hydrochloride salt form of cephalexin provides the same first-generation cephalosporin antimicrobial activity, used for the same indications as cephalexin. The salt form may affect solubility and formulation characteristics. Standard precautions regarding penicillin cross-reactivity and renal adjustment apply.

Disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. The resulting cell wall defects cause osmotic instability and bacteriolysis.
