This humanized monoclonal antibody targets CD19, a protein found on B-cells, and depletes these immune cells to reduce the autoimmune attacks in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). NMOSD is a rare, severe inflammatory disease affecting the optic nerves and spinal cord. By reducing B-cell numbers, it decreases the frequency of disabling attacks.
