Technetium Tc 99m arcitumomab (CEA-Scan) is a radiolabeled anti-CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) antibody fragment (Fab') used for immunoscintigraphy to detect and localize recurrent or metastatic colorectal cancer. By targeting CEA overexpressed on colorectal cancer cells, it enables scintigraphic identification of tumor deposits not detected by conventional imaging. The use of an antibody fragment rather than whole antibody reduces immunogenicity and improves biodistribution for imaging purposes.
