BRAF kinase carrying the V600E or V600K substitution signals constitutively through the RAS/MAPK pathway, and dabrafenib mesylate inhibits that altered kinase. Interrupting the pathway removes the proliferative drive in tumours defined by the mutation, which is why treatment is restricted to disease confirmed to carry it. Approved applications span metastatic melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma with BRAF mutation. The mesylate salt improves the pharmaceutical properties of the compound without changing its kinase selectivity. The salt is recorded with the formula C24H24F3N5O5S3 and a mass close to 615.7 g/mol, and it is approved with development completed through the final phase.

The mesylate salt form of dabrafenib, a BRAF V600E/K inhibitor used for treating metastatic melanoma, NSCLC, and anaplastic thyroid cancer with BRAF mutations. The mesylate salt improves the compound's pharmaceutical properties.
