Sodium pertechnetate Tc-99m is a radioactive technetium pertechnetate salt labeled with the metastable gamma-emitting isotope technetium-99m, used for thyroid scintigraphy, brain perfusion studies, Meckel's diverticulum detection, and as a labeling agent for numerous other technetium-99m radiopharmaceuticals. Technetium-99m emits 140 keV gamma rays with a 6-hour half-life ideal for SPECT imaging while delivering relatively low radiation dose to patients. See sodium pertechnetate for complete pharmacological details.
