Trimethaphan camsylate is the camphorsulfonate salt of trimethaphan, a ganglionic blocking agent that blocks nicotinic receptors at autonomic ganglia to produce controlled hypotension. It was administered intravenously for acute hypertensive crises and to create deliberate hypotension during surgical procedures. The camsylate salt form was used in the marketed parenteral formulation.
