Sermorelin acetate is a synthetic peptide analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) consisting of the first 29 amino acids of the 44-amino acid endogenous peptide, used to diagnose growth hormone deficiency and as a growth-promoting therapy in children with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency. By binding to GHRH receptors on somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary, it stimulates pulsatile growth hormone secretion, preserving the physiological regulation of the GH-IGF-1 axis. Unlike exogenous GH, it does not suppress endogenous GH secretion.
