Technetium etidronate is a bone-seeking radiopharmaceutical in which technetium-99m is chelated to etidronate, a bisphosphonate that localizes to areas of increased osteoblastic activity and bone turnover. It is used in bone scintigraphy to detect metastatic bone disease, stress fractures, osteomyelitis, and Paget's disease. The radiotracer accumulates preferentially in metabolically active bone lesions relative to normal bone.
