Thyrotropin Alfa
Thyrotropin alfa is a recombinant human TSH that stimulates thyroid remnant tissue to take up radioiodine or produce thyroglobulin without requiring the patient to undergo thyroid hormone withdrawal and hypothyroidism. It is used as an adjunct for radioiodine ablation of thyroid remnants and for diagnostic whole-body scanning and serum thyroglobulin testing in differentiated thyroid cancer patients. Its use maintains quality of life by avoiding the morbidity of hypothyroidism during follow-up.
