Tofacitinib
This oral JAK inhibitor is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and atopic dermatitis in patients who have not responded adequately to other treatments. It works by blocking Janus kinase (JAK) enzymes that transmit inflammatory signals inside immune cells. Due to risks including serious infections, blood clots, and cardiovascular events, it is typically reserved for patients who have not responded to safer therapies.
