Telaprevir
This antiviral medication was used as part of combination therapy to treat chronic hepatitis C infection caused by genotype 1 of the virus. It works by blocking an enzyme (protease) that the hepatitis C virus needs to replicate. It has largely been replaced by newer, better-tolerated hepatitis C treatments.
