Primaquine
An antiparasitic medication used to treat and prevent certain types of malaria, particularly to eliminate the dormant liver stages of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale that can cause the infection to relapse weeks or months later. Before taking it, patients must be tested for a genetic enzyme deficiency (G6PD) that can cause serious blood problems.
