Protirelin
Protirelin (thyrotropin-releasing hormone, TRH) is a synthetic tripeptide hypothalamic hormone that stimulates the pituitary release of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and prolactin by binding to specific G-protein-coupled TRH receptors on thyrotrophs and lactotrophs. It is used diagnostically as a provocative test for evaluating thyroid function and pituitary TSH reserve, and is under investigation as a treatment for thyroid cancer.
