Tolbutamide
This oral sulfonylurea medication stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin and is used to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is an older drug largely replaced by newer agents but may still be used when other options are not suitable. Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is the most common side effect.
