Voltage-Gated Ion Channel (VGIC)

VGIC
Targets & Receptors

Ion channels that open or close in response to changes in membrane potential. They are essential for action potential generation and propagation in neurons, cardiac cells, and muscle fibers. Subtypes include voltage-gated sodium (Nav), potassium (Kv), and calcium (Cav) channels.

Exemples

  • Nav1.7 targeted by carbamazepine (epilepsy/neuropathic pain)
  • Cav1.2 (L-type) blocked by verapamil (arrhythmia)
  • Kv11.1 (hERG) — off-target block causes QT prolongation
