Masoprocol
This compound derived from the creosote bush plant was approved as a topical treatment for a precancerous skin condition called actinic keratosis, working by inhibiting an enzyme involved in the production of inflammatory compounds that promote abnormal cell growth. It was withdrawn due to a high rate of allergic contact dermatitis.
