Raxibacumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds to the protective antigen (PA) component of Bacillus anthracis toxin, preventing its binding to host cell receptors and thereby blocking the cellular entry and cytotoxic effects of anthrax lethal toxin and edema toxin. It is approved for the treatment and prophylaxis of inhalational anthrax in combination with appropriate antibacterial therapy.
