Riluzole
A medication used to slow the progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by reducing glutamate-mediated nerve damage, and has also been studied in Alzheimer's disease. While it does not cure ALS, it has been shown to modestly extend survival and delay the need for mechanical ventilation.
