Sildenafil
Originally developed for heart conditions, this medication relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking an enzyme called PDE5, increasing blood flow. It is used both to treat erectile dysfunction and, at different doses, to lower abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension).
