Complement Inhibitor

A drug that blocks one or more components of the complement cascade, a part of innate immunity involving over 30 proteins that enhance pathogen opsonization, inflammation, and membrane attack complex (MAC) formation. Dysregulated complement activation underlies several rare diseases. Complement inhibitors target specific components (C3, C5) to prevent downstream tissue damage.
