Suprofen
Suprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the propionic acid class, formerly used systemically for pain and inflammation and now used as a topical ophthalmic NSAID to prevent surgically induced miosis during cataract surgery and relieve postoperative ocular inflammation. It inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis in the anterior chamber that mediates intraoperative pupillary constriction. Systemic suprofen was withdrawn due to flank pain syndrome.
