Ciclesonide
A corticosteroid prodrug that is activated by airway esterases to its active metabolite des-ciclesonide, used as an inhaled therapy for persistent asthma and allergic rhinitis. Its prodrug design limits systemic absorption and local oropharyngeal side effects compared to some other inhaled corticosteroids. It provides effective anti-inflammatory control of airway disease with once-daily dosing.
