Trastuzumab
This monoclonal antibody targets HER2, a protein that is overexpressed in certain breast and gastric cancers, and is used to treat HER2-positive cancers either alone or in combination with chemotherapy. It works by attaching to HER2 receptors on cancer cells, blocking growth signals and marking the cells for destruction by the immune system. Before starting treatment, the heart must be evaluated as trastuzumab can cause a reduction in heart function.
