Enzyme Target
An enzyme whose catalytic activity is modulated by a drug to produce a therapeutic effect. Enzyme inhibitors can be reversible (competitive, uncompetitive, noncompetitive) or irreversible (covalent). Approximately 29% of approved drugs target enzymes, making them the second-largest target class after GPCRs.
