Hydroxyzine
This first-generation antihistamine has anxiolytic, antipruritic, and sedative properties and is used to treat anxiety, itching from allergic conditions, and nausea. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors and also affects other neurotransmitter systems in the brain. It does not carry the risk of dependence seen with benzodiazepines.
